GRANT DURBAHN

(’20 economics and mathematics) received funding from the Center for Agricultural and Rural Development to complete a study of cash rent versus crop

share contracting in Iowa from 1997-2017. He took second in the undergraduate competition conducted by the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association. Grant is attending graduate school in economics at Iowa State.

SHAHRUKH KAHN

(’20 economics) analyzed the market for professional cricket players. He examined how the prohibition on Pakistani players playing in the Indian league,

the most lucrative league, affects earnings for Pakistani players in the other leagues. He is applying for graduate programs.

MONTSERRAT PONCE-PARRA

(’20 economics and mathematics) received Project funding for her senior essay on the factors affecting violence against women in Latin America. She started

graduate work in economics at Iowa State in fall 2020.

SAPTAPARNI GHOSH

(’20 economics and mathematics) worked on a project that examined how extra curricular activities in high school affected later academic and early labor market success.

She is attending graduate school at Iowa State.

JULIAN DURAN

(’20 economics and statistics) received Program funding for his senior research project examining wealth inequality in the U.S. from 1983-2016.

His research examined how the inclusion of the present value of human capital affected measures of wealth inequality. He is attending graduate school in statistics at San Diego State.

LUCY DOUGHERTY

(’20 economics and political science) had her paper analyzing the effect of announced local lottery winners on subsequent lottery sales accepted for presentation at the

National Conferences on Undergraduate Research. Unfortunately, the conference was cancelled. Lucy Is attending the University of Minnesota Law School on a full-ride scholarship.
