(’16 industrial engineering and applied mathematics) completed a senior essay, "Training and the Minimum Wage: Effects of the Minimum Wage and Youth On-the-Job

Skill Acquisition on Future Work and Earnings," which he presented at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Was then offered a job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Ben is entering graduate school at the University of California at Berkeley.

URJA SHAH

(’16 economics) completed a paper examining how urban-rural wage gaps in a country affect per capita GDP. She presented, "Urban-Rural Wage Gaps,

Inefficient Labor Allocations, and GDP per Capita," at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. Urja was later offered a job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and then took a job at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

LOCKY CATRON

(‘16 agricultural business) completed a paper, "Is there market power in organic dairies and does it persist?" measuring the relative price-cost margins of dairy farms

in conventional versus organic markets. Presented her research at the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association Undergraduate Paper Competition. Attended graduate school at Texas A&M.

SYDNEY ELSON

(’16 agricultural business) received Program funding to work on her senior essay, "Changes in Local Recreation Patronage in Iowa Small Towns, 1994 – 2014," which

she presented at the honors poster presentation.

HIEU NGUYEN

(’16, economics, finance and mathematics) completed a paper on the impact of state marginal tax rates on housing prices at either side of state borders

that showed that the side of the border with higher marginal tax rates has lower housing prices. He presented this paper at the Midwest Economics Association Undergraduate Paper Competition and at the Iowa state capitol.

YIRAN XU

(’16 economics and mathematics) her research project examined how agricultural production and trade affected food security. Attended NYU graduate

school for data science.

KATHLINA ROAT

(‘16 economics, mathematics, and Spanish) presented her paper, "Loneliness in College Students," at the honors poster presentation.

TAYLOR FINN

(’16 economics and Spanish) received Program funding for her honors project. She presented her project, "What Are the Best Universities

in the Nation, and Why?" at the honors poster session. Attending graduate school at University of Nebraska-Omaha.

ANTHONY SAX

(‘16 economics and supply chain management) wrote a senior essay, "Do Differences in Marginal Tax Rates at State Borders Affect Residential

and Job Location?" which he presented at the Midwest Economics Association Undergraduate Paper Competition. Attended graduate school at the University of South Carolina.
